Are you new to meditation or curious about mindfulness?   Interested in learning more about tools for stress reduction?

Are you a regular practitioner who’d like to take a deeper dive into mindfulness, insight meditation and the psychology and physiology of stress?

Are you interested in exploring MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) but not sure about committing to the full 8 week program?

Join me and Community Mindfulness Project from the comfort of your own home for an introduction to the MBSR program created at UMASS Medical School by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979.  With concepts & practices drawn directly from the original 8 week MBSR program, this is an experiential, introspective program that examines the science behind mindfulness, the psychology and physiology of stress, and encompasses a variety of mindfulness techniques, including meditation and mindful movement. Explore how mindfulness supports present moment awareness of physical body sensations, thoughts, and emotions - building internal resources to manage stress and our responses.   We will meet on Zoom for 90 minutes on Wednesday evenings at 7pm Eastern.

MBSR, short for Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, is an 8 week class series that explores mindfulness, the psychology and physiology of stress, meditation and yoga.  MBSR was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the Stress Reduction Clinic at UMASS Medical School in 1979.  Decades of research has shown that thousands of people around the world have benefitted from this interactive stress reduction program which includes mindfulness meditation and gentle yoga.

MBSR is a secular, interactive, group program.  Participants should be prepared to commit to a daily home practice of meditation, gentle stretches as well as exercises of informal mindfulness, such as mindful eating and awareness/inventory of stressful thoughts or emotions.  Participants are provided a manual and either cd's or a USB drive with guided meditation and gentle yoga stretches for home practice.

Class meets for 2.5 hours a week for 8 weeks, and there is a full day silent retreat on a Saturday between weeks 6-7.
